The 2014 Honda CR-V vs. the 2014 Toyota RAV4
Small crossovers are all the rage these days with drivers. Considering they’re efficient, affordable, and spacious, it’s easy to see the appeal. At our Easton-area car dealership, we stock the 2014 Honda CR-V, but realize you have other options. Take for example the 2014 Toyota RAV4. Both models are similarly sized, priced, and come from Japanese automakers. Which is the better vehicle? To help you make your choice, here’s a side-by-side comparison.
The MSRP for the base 2014 Honda CR-V LX with two-wheel drive and the automatic transmission is listed at $22,945. While the RAV4 price is similar, these models will cost you extra. They start with an MSRP of $23,550. In car prices that’s not an astronomical leap, but just think about what you could spend that extra $605 on.
Vehicle Safety Ratings
Both the CR-V and RAV4 are marketed as family vehicles. When you’re looking for a car to transport your loved ones, you want it to be as safe as possible. The 2014 Honda CR-V received perfect five star scores from the NHTSA in their front passenger and side pole crash tests along with five star ratings for overall front crash test safety and overall safety.
The Toyota RAV4 didn’t do quite as well. The RAV4 received four stars overall, four stars for overall front crash tests, and four stars in the side pole crash tests. A little bit more disconcerting was the RAV4 only scored three stars in their front passenger crash test.
View CR-V InventoryThough both crossovers are roughly about the same size, the Honda CR-V is able to offer a total of 104.1 cubic feet of passenger room while the RAV offers 101.9 cubic feet. That different translates to more front headroom, shoulder room, and hip room, along with more second row hip room, legroom, and shoulder room.
