2017 Honda Civic Si
The month ahead is looking to be quite exciting: not only is the weather getting warmer, but a new vehicle will hit the lot at Silko Honda come May. That model is the 2017 Honda Civic Si, a sporty version of the classic Civic to expand the lineup even further. The Civic Si was introduced at the 2017 New York International Auto Show, and there’s plenty in store for Plymouth and Easton drivers who decide to get behind the wheel of this peppy car. Silko Honda provides this 2017 Honda Civic Si preview for you to learn more!

The Return of the Si

The 2017 Honda Civic Si will be available as either a coupe or a sedan, and it returns to the Civic lineup after it was omitted in the 2016 model year. But this year’s version has an all-new spin, thanks to a first-ever turbocharged engine, and Honda claims it’s both agile and responsive.

What to Expect

Glancing at the 2017 Honda Civic Si offers some insight as to what’s in store. It boasts sporty and bold styling, 18-inch alloy wheels with 10 spokes, a two-tone paint job, a deck lid spoiler, and a polygon-shaped exhaust, among other distinctions. Under the hood, you’ll find a 1.5L turbocharged, direct-injection 4-cylinder machine that generates 205 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque via a six-speed manual transmission, whereas the standard Honda Civic LX sedan makes 158 hp and 138 lb-ft of torque. This isn’t a significant power boost from former Civic Si models, but a turbocharged engine alters driving dynamics entirely.

Step inside the cabin, and the emphasis remains on performance, as evidenced by front sport seats with red contrast stitching, aluminum sport pedals, and a red driver’s TFT display in the gauge cluster. Technology abounds, as well, with the likes of a 7-inch display screen, smartphone app integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10-speaker stereo. In addition, you can expect:

  • Electronic parking brake
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Heated front seats
  • Rain-sensing wipers
  • Aluminum shift knob
  • SiriusXM radio
  • Pandora streaming radio capability

Safety Expectations

The 2017 Honda Civic Si hasn’t yet been tested by major safety organizations, but the automaker expects it will receive a top five-star overall crash rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Plus, the standard Civic sedan and coupe formats were named 2017 Top Safety Picks by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety*, which bodes well for the new Civic Si model.
