The 2017 Honda Insight Redesign

The new 2017 Honda Insight is scheduled to arrive in the early part of the 2017 model year and will likely include a number of exciting changes to bring shoppers in. The addition of a chrome grille surround is said to be in the works, as is integrated fog lights in the front bumper, which will add style and functionality. New alloy wheels and LED taillights are said to compliment the more aerodynamic body lines and complete the refresh. The interior is rumored to have a much more extensive redesign, with the option to add power-adjustable front seats, new materials, and upgraded tech on the way.

European markets are reporting that the 1.3L Atkinson engine will be powered by two hydrogen cells for hybrid power, but there is no report of that feature being available in the American marketplace at this time.

Carryovers from The 2014 Model

Honda has made no announcement regarding the new Insight’s audio system, so we believe it’s safe to say that the 8-speaker system with USB/iPod connectivity will carry forward into the new trim.

Other options, like paddle shifters, Honda anti-theft security, Eco-Assist, automatic headlights, and steering wheel mounted controls will likely also carry forward with this redesign.

The 2014 Honda Insight Specs and Features

If you’re curious to see how the upcoming model compares to the 2014 Honda Insight, take a look at these specs:

  • Performance – The 2014 Insight was powered by a 98-hp, 1.3L inline 4-cylinder engine mated to a Permanent Magnet AC Synchronous electric motor and 100-Volt Nickel Metal Hydride battery (NIMH).
  • Creature Comforts – Optional features like automatic climate control, satellite-linked navigation, Bluetooth hands-free calling, cruise control, power windows and doors, and rearview camera made it easy to customize your Insight to your needs.
  • Honda Safety – Like every Honda, the Insight is well-equipped with features like Vehicle Stability Assist, Antilock Braking System, Brake Assist, advanced airbags, Electronic Brake Distribution, Tire Pressure Monitoring, Daytime running lamps, child safety anchors, and other design features to keep cabin occupants safer.
