Stay Safe and Secure in a Honda Fit
There are few vehicles on the road that boast a safety record like a Honda does, and it’s one of the many reasons that we are proud to be a Honda dealer. When you’re driving a many thousand pound piece of machinery, you want to be sure that you and all of your passengers are as safe as can be.
Saved by the Honda Fit
It’s with great joy we are here to tell you about the story of a man who rolled his car seven times and walked away unscathed. And that car? It was a Honda Fit. After the accident—likely due to poor road conditions and rain—the driver said that there was little doubt in his mind that his replacement would be another Honda Fit.
And we can’t blame him. Not only did the Fit help save his life, but the 2013 model receiving four stars for overall crash protection from the NHTSA and the IIHS’s highest rating of good on side impact, frontal-offset, and roof strength tests.
New Safety for a New Fit
Honda is never one to rest on their laurels, though, and their plans for the 2014 Fit give us every indication they aim to make it one of the safest vehicles on the road today. With new safety technology changing day to day, it can be tough to keep up, but Honda is adding an active braking system to the 2014 Fit.
Active braking is just what it sounds like. Honda has developed a system that will brake for you to help prevent a collision. Operating only when the vehicle is running at low speeds, the system will detect when a collision is imminent and apply the brakes, ideally quickly enough to prevent you from hitting a car or object. Although it hasn’t yet been announced whether the active braking will make it to the US for the 2014 model, it looks like it’s only a matter of time.
