Honda Sensing® Suite: Features and Technology

In their Honda Sensing review, CNET states that Honda Sensing has “now been fitted to 1 million vehicles.” So, you’re probably wondering, “What is Honda Sensing, and why is it so popular?” Honda Sensing is a safety suite that’s standard on select new vehicles, such as the 2021 Honda Accord and 2021 Honda Pilot. With Honda Sensing, you can drive more confidently in Brockton, knowing the system has your back—as well as your front and side.

This Honda safety bundle includes a variety of intelligent and proactive driver assists (including many unavailable on Toyota Safety Sense), designed to act as your second pair of eyes and ears. Look below to see what the suite entails, then visit Silko Honda in Raynham for a new Civic, Ridgeline, or Accord with the latest technology!

Can You Turn Off Honda Sensing?

You might be asking yourself, “Is Honda Sensing worth it if I don’t want to use these features all the time?” Yes—you can turn them off. If you want to turn off RDM, you can press a button under ECON. LKS can be turned off by pushing the MAIN button on the steering wheel until the indicators in the instrument cluster are gone.

You can also configure Honda Sensing settings via the optional central touchscreen. Hit “Settings,” “Vehicle Settings,” and then “Drive Assist Setup.” This allows you to change RDM warnings, distance warnings for CMBS, and more.

If you need help modifying or turning off Honda Sensing, schedule a service appointment with one of our technicians!

What’s Included in Honda Sensing?

Honda Sensing® is found as standard equipment on most new Honda vehicles. For example, if you choose the CR-V, you’ll get Honda Sensing® on the EX, EX-L, and Touring.

Honda Sensing® features several technologies to help you stay aware of your surroundings Taunton roads:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)—helps brake the car if a collision with a straight-ahead vehicle seems likely.
  • Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)—uses a small camera to detect road markings and will alert you if you begin to leave the road.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)—helps you maintain a preset following distance.
  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)—automatically adjusts steering to bring you back to the center of the lane if you begin to drift.
