2017 Honda Fit
2017 Ford Fiesta Hatchback
A lot of drivers on a budget choose to go with a hatchback because of what they offer for the money. The 2017 Honda Fit remains one of the most popular models in the segment thanks to its versatility, strong fuel economy, and reputation for reliability. The 2017 Ford Fiesta Hatchback continues to have some popularity as well, though it fails to meet up to the standards of Honda’s hatchback. See how they compare here, and then come to Silko Honda to check out the new Honda Fit.
Base Model Performance and Fuel Economy
The 2017 Honda Fit comes standard with a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that puts out 130 hp and is able to get an EPA-estimated 40 mpg highway and 33 mpg city* on the base model (when equipped with CVT). The 2017 Ford Fiesta, on the other hand, gets a standard 1.6L 4-cylinder engine that only makes 120 hp and 112 lb-ft of torque. On top of that, this engine is unable to get above 36 mpg highway and 27 mpg city, according to the EPA.
Hatchback Utility: Passengers and Cargo
Most shoppers in the small hatchback segment want an efficient vehicle that also gives them some versatility and utility when it’s needed. While both of these models can seat up to five passengers, their design delivers different levels of utility. The Fit’s total interior volume is 112.3 cubic feet, and there’s a total of 16.6 cubic feet of dedicated cargo space in back. The folding rear Magic Seat also folds flat within the floor to provide a max cargo area of 52.7 cubic feet, putting it near the top of the class. The Fiesta Hatchback, by contrast, has a total interior volume of just 95.2 cubic feet, a dedicated cargo area of just 14.9 cubic feet, and a max cargo volume of only 25.4 cubic feet.
