How to Change the Battery in a Honda Key Fob

A lot of our Taunton customers like to handle their Honda key fob battery replacement on their own. You can, too, if you follow these easy instructions on how to change the battery in a Honda key fob:

How to Change a Honda Key Battery

  1. If your fob is held together by a screw, remove the screw with a screwdriver. If it has a button that releases the key, slide that button instead.
  2. Pry the key fob open, being careful not to let the contents and external buttons fall out.
  3. Take out the dead battery. Observe which side is positive and which side is negative.
  4. Install the new Honda key battery without touching the terminals. Remember where the positive side and negative side goes
  5. Snap the two halves of the fob back together or screw them back together, depending on which kind of Honda key fob you have.
